THE PARTNERSHIP

We worked side-by-side with Dot Coffee to bring a concept of a contactless coffee shop to life. We had to re-think everything we know about the coffee industry in order to successfully bring it into fruition for the 2020/2021 season. We started with designing the end to end user journey for how a successful ordering process would look like on both an app and/or website. After that, we worked on the brand strategy and identity to tie in the whole experience. 

Dot Coffee called this new movement, "the third wave of the coffee business". We took that as inspiration for the brand. Please see below for more details.

THE BRAND IDENTITY

The "third wave of coffee" is seen if you look closely at the logo design (see the three waves in the red lines?). It was important to Dot Coffee to create something that stood out from other traditional coffee brands because that's not who they wanted to be. The dot is not represented by a literal dot. Though we believe in simplicity but a literal dot would be too simplistic. And that’s not who Dot Coffee is. Instead, the dot represents the ripple effect of its leadership. There’s a new wave of tech & coffee coming and it’s going to start with a dot. Welcome to Dot Coffee.

With Dot Coffee, everything is digital. Even the cups and windows have QR codes where you can scan and make an order. We aimed to make it extremely easy for anyone with a phone to order coffee, even if they're standing outside by the window.

Designing an app for a service that is brand new to the market can be a challenge, but a fun one. Our solution and approach is to create a simple and modern user-experience design to take out any of the user's guess work or confusion. All screens are designed to be intuitive without having to click more than 2-3 times to make an order.
